Easy Paneer Bhurji | Grated Paneer Stir Fry

An under 15-minutes side dish for rotis/chapatis made with grated paneer sautéed in oil with spices, onions, tomatoes and spices.

  • 200 gm Paneer grated
  • 3 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 small red onion chopped
  • 2 green chilies (or to taste) finely chopped
  • 1 medium tomato chopped
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ¾ tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp cilantro finely chopped


  • Heat coconut oil in a pan on medium heat. (you can use coconut oil or any vegetable oil of your choice)
  • Add cumin seeds, allow them to sizzle.
  • Add green chilies and onion, sauté until onion translucent.
  • Add chopped tomatoes, sprinkle a pinch of salt over them, cover and cook on low heat until tomatoes soft & mushy.
  • Add turmeric powder, sauté and add the grated paneer, stir to combine, cover and cook for 2-3 minutes until paneer soft.
  • Taste for salt and adjust if necessary.
  • Garnish with cilantro and serve warm (drizzle a bit of lime juice if you like before serving) with chapatis/rotis or add it to your toast. Enjoy!
