Ingredients

  • 200 g paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tbsp white corn flour
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3-4 tbsp oil I used cold-pressed peanut oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • green chilies to taste
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced green bell peppers
  • 1/2 cup diced red bell peppers
  • handful of chopped green onions/spring onions
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
For the sauce:
  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 2 tsp dark soy sauce
  • black pepper powder to taste
  • salt to taste

Method

  1. Into a bowl, add paneer cubes, corn flour, black pepper, salt, and 1/2 tsp oil. Toss well to coat the paneer with other ingredients.
  2. Heat 3 tbsp oil in a pan on medium heat. Transfer coated paneer cubes the pan and shallow fry them until golden brown on all sides. Then remove them into a bowl.
  3. Into the same pan, add minced garlic and green chili and sauté until the garlic has lightly browned.
  4. Add the veggies (onion, green and red bell peppers) and sauté on medium heat until 80% cooked.
  5. Make the sauce. All the ingredients mentioned under the sauce heading and mix together to make the sauce. Pour this sauce over the cooked veggies and mix. Taste for seasoning and adjust if necessary. Add more soy sauce and tomato ketchup if needed.
  6. Add fried paneer cubes and give it a good stir. Garnish with spring onions and sesame seeds.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy!
