If you’re looking for a delicious, easy-to-make dosa that’s packed with protein and requires no fermentation, look no further!
Quinoa Dosa is one of our all-time favorite homemade dosas. It has a taste similar to traditional dosa and can be prepared almost instantly. Made with masoor dal, quinoa, ginger, and cumin for flavor and digestion, along with black peppercorns for a bit of heat, this dosa is lightly flavored. When paired with the right side dishes, it makes an excellent protein-rich meal.

Quinoa Dosa
Recipe by

Servings
4-5 Dosas

PREP + Cooking time
3 hours 15 minutes
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of masoor dal
- 1/4 cup of quinoa
- 1/4 inch ginger root
- a few black peppercorns
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Salt
- Water
- Ghee
Directions
- Soaking: wash, rinse, and soak masoor dal & quinoa in water, over night or for at least 3 hours. If soaking for just 3 hours, you can soak it in hot water as well. Discard the soaking water, and transfer soaked masoor dal and quinoa into a mixer jar.
- Blending: add ginger, black pepper, cumin seeds, salt, and 1/2 cup water into the mixer jar and blend to a smooth batter. Add more water if needed while blending.
- Ladle out dosa: ladle out dosa on a cast iron tawa, add ghee and cook on both sides.
- Serving: serve dosa with chutney and dal or any side dish of choice. I have coconut chutney and scrambled eggs (husband’s contribution to the meal 😉) on my plate. Enjoy!
