The black sesame laddoo, also known as ellu unde in Karnataka, southern India, is a simple and delicious sweet that is commonly made during festivals such as Naga Panchami and Ganesha Chaturthi. This recipe requires only three ingredients, takes less than 15 minutes to prepare, and is so addictive that you won’t be able to stop eating them.
The best part about this recipe is that it’s healthy, consisting of toasted sesame seeds, jaggery, and cardamom. If you like, you can also add a tablespoon of ghee. That’s all you need!
This sweet treat holds a special place in my heart because it reminds me of the fond memories I have of my late grandmother. I would eagerly await her preparation of these laddoos during festivals and enjoy them as an evening snack or after-meal treat for at least a week. She would make them the best!
